About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from North Little Rock High School in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 2010. While in school I was involved in the marching band, concert band, and jazz band at NLRHS. I was also a member of our flute choir and saxophone ensemble playing baritone saxophone, which met after school. I was a member of Beta Club, National Honors Society, Ladies and Gentlemans Club, and TRI-M or Modern Music Masters until graduation. While in high school I also worked part time for Saied Music Co. which is still our music store representative here in Huntsville Schools. I also attended Dixie Band Camp at UCA, as well as University of Arkansas Summer Music Camp every summer from middle school until high school graduation making various honor bands and top chairs in the flute and oboe section. Here are some of the ensembles that I have made while being apart of the band.

All Region Junior High First Band- Two years

All Region Senior High First Band- Three years

All Region Orchestra Flute/Oboe- Three years

All Region Jazz Band- One year

All State Concert Band- Three years

All State Solo and Ensemble- Three years, various ensembles entered

I graduated from the University of Arkanas in 2014 with my Bachelors of Science in Music Education with an emphasis in flute. I was a member of the Wind Symphony under the direction of Professor W. Dale Warren and the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Christopher Knighton. I studied private flute under Dr. Ronda Mains and Catalina Ortega. While at the University I was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and involved in philanthropy work with the Ronald McDonald House Charities. I was a member of the Razorback Marching Band, “The Best In Sight And Sound”, where I was able to travel some of the United States playing at various sporting events and rallies. 


Degrees and Certifications:

I have a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. I have a current Arkansas teaching license in PK-8 and 7-12 Instrumental Music. I also have a Texas teaching license in Early Childhood-12 Music. 

Professional Development:

I have attended the Arkansas Bandmasters Association for the past four years in Little Rock and Fort Smith Arkansas. I have attended the Arkansas All State Music Conference regularly and attended sessions on technology in music classrooms, beginning instrumental pedagogy, and recruitment and retention in music programs. I have also attended the Texas Bandmasters Association as well as Texas Music Educators Association conference in San Antonio where I was able to bring home various methods for rehearsal skills and individual practice methods. 

Current Position:

seniorphotoI have been teaching at Huntsville Middle School since fall of 2017. Currently I am the head director of the middle school and the assistant director at the high school. 

Previous Position:

Before teaching in Huntsville, I was the head band director for B McDaniel Intermediate School in Denison, Texas from 2016-2017. Before that from 2014-2016 I was the Director of Bands for Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.
