Teacher
Yukon High School 1997, Yukon Oklahoma
BFA University of Oklahoma 2001, Norman Oklahoma
MFA University of Kansas 2004 , Lawrence Kansas
I have a bachelors and masters degree of fine arts and am certified for k-12 fine arts.
I continually strive to implement literacy into every assignment in art thus over my 13 years here at Huntsville I have attended numerous professional developments on literacy and arts integration. Notable workshops are:
AWE institute at Walton Arts Center.
Crystal Bridges Summer Institute for teaching art.
PLC and RTI with Solution Tree.
I started with Huntsville School District in 2006. During my time here I have taught both Art and Yearbook. I have also enjoyed many other enrichment and intervention activities with the students including a poetry club, a rock band that actually preformed for the school, and a weekly newspaper. Our 2017-2018 school yearbook won 2nd in the nation for middle school yearbooks with LifeTouch publishing!
Before working here I spent some time as welder, a drawing instructor at the University of Kansas, a baker and pastery chef, and have continually sold my own art work.
I have been happily married for 22 years to my beautiful and caring wife Meagan. No kids, but we do love our cats! Together we spend much time together working in the ministry sharing hope and the Bible’s message with people in the community.
I am a working artist outside of school. I volunteer much time helping others learn about the Bible and participating in other types of relief ministry. And yes, laying on the couch is oh so good at times!
