I grew up in Huntsville and went to Huntsville School District from kindergarten through graduation in 2006. I then went to the University of Arkansas where I received my BA in English in 2011. I attended Harding University for graduate school where I obtained my Masters in the Art of Teaching in 2012. I also received my special education endorsement at Harding University in 2015.

I started teaching in Huntsville in August 2014 as a special education teacher; specifically in the area of Literacy. I have continued in this position over the last five years and look forward to my sixth year!
I teach three different types of classes. I have Resource English for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade; Inclusion English for 7th and 8th grade; and Structures (Phonics First) for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
Before I came to Huntsville I taught 7th grade English/Social Studies, 9th grade English, and 8th/9th grade Reading 180 for the Springdale School District as a long term sub.
I married Andrew Vanhook December 31, 2011. We have known each other since we were 10 years old and started dating while we were attending the University of Arkansas. We have two sweet puppies (who we absolutely adore) and one sweet baby boy who will turn one this coming November, Asher Phillip Vanhook.
