I graduated High School from Hawkins, Tx in 1985. I then went to the University of North Texas before moving to Fayetteville and graduating from the University of Arkansas.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary and Middle School Education in English. I also have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.
I began teaching at Springdale High School before moving to Huntsville. I went back to school to get certified to teach elementary and taught 2nd grade for 3 years before deciding to move back to the secondary level. I taught 8th grade for several years and then switched to High School for a year. I then became a High School Counselor before realizing that my true passion is being in the classroom teaching students. I have now found my happy place back in 8th grade English.
Teaching is not the only profession I have had. Before earning my degrees, I worked in a variety of jobs including Tyson Corporate Office, IBM in Dallas, Tx, and Martin, Trumbo, and Sterling Law Firm. I feel this has really helped me be a well rounded teacher and has allowed me to share my experiences with my students.
I am married to an amazing man who works for the University of Arkansas. I have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren who are the light of my life!
Some of my hobbies include reading (of course!), gardening, scrapbooking, cleaning, hiking, and being with my family. When I am not teaching, I am likely at home reading or working in my yard. I also love to travel and have lived in some pretty amazing places before settling in Arkansas.
