I graduated high school in 2006 from Carthage Senior High in Carthage, Missouri. During my time in high school, I was a member of marching and concert band, Soundwave show choir, concert choir, National Honor Society, Foreign Language Club, and a cheerleader for the wrestling team. I graduated with honors.
After graduating high school, I was accepted into the University of Arkansas music department and majored in Instrumental Music Education. During my time at the UofA, I was a member of the Razorback Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Clarinet Ensemble and Sigma Alpha Iota. I was on the Dean’s List the year I graduated in 2011.
I currently hold my K-12 certification for both instrumental and vocal music.
I began teaching for the Huntsville School District in the Fall of 2015. This is currently my 5th year in the district and my 7th year teaching overall. As of this year, I teach middle school choir, high school choir, general music, and 6th grade rotation. I am a member of the Arkansas Choral Director’s Association and Huntsville Education Association. Outside of public school, I am also an ESL teacher online through VIPKid on weekends and early mornings.
Before I worked in Huntsville, I was the middle school band director in Blytheville, AR for two years. While employed in Blytheville, I taught beginning band, 7th and 8th grade band, and assisted with the high school band.
I have three wonderful fur babies, Grace, Daisy, and Angel. I love spending time with them as I am a huge animal lover. Grace is a Dachshund and Min Pin mix. She is 9 years old. My cat, Angel, is a long haired tabby and is 10 years old. The newest addition to my family is a special needs Dacshund named Daisy. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I am truly a “dog and cat mom” for life!
When I am not at school, I enjoy lounging around with my pets, spending time with my family and friends, and staying active. I have a third degree black belt in Taekwondo and experience with Krav Maga, an Israeli self defense style. I enjoy doing yoga and taking part in the alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota. “The Bachelor” series is one of my guilty pleasures.
